caniuse says Chrome supports 'mix-blend-mode: darken'. Chrome claims it does so, via both @supports() and the inspector. It passes tests. And yet, it is clearly not blending elements on my page with their backdrops in any way, let alone via a darken operation. I am confuse.

It works as expected in Firefox, but maybe they’re ignoring an isolation condition? I’ll put together a reduced test case when I get a few minutes.

Here are two test cases: 1. meyerweb.com/eric/css/tests/… 2. meyerweb.com/eric/css/tests/… #1 works as expected in Chrome. #2 does not. Both work as expected in Firefox. I am SO CONFUSE.

I think the key difference is that (2) is blending against the canvas background (which has a background that comes from body). If you give html a background in (2) so body's background stays on body, then the behavior changes.

And by "the behavior changes", I mean Chrome switches to matching Firefox and Firefox stays the same.

Ah, fascinating. That did indeed do the trick. Thanks!
