This is the kind of thing that would be good (for both webdev ergonomics and end user accessibility) to have interoperability on between browsers.

Found a few open issues: github.com/whatwg/html/issue… bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bu… I thought WebKit/Blink were doing some non-CSS color modifications of the input's color, but they just set a #757575 placeholder text color. cs.chromium.org/chromium/src…
