Does Taipei have land value taxes? I was under the impression that property taxes there were effectively indistinguishable from zero (i.e., similar order of magnitude to what Californians pay for vehicle registration). (Otherwise a huge fan of Taipei, though.)

They do have land value taxes but they're pretty small.

Taiwan's land value tax rates are 0.2% for primary residence up to 300 square meters in size. For apartments, the calculation formula includes that unit's share of common areas. For other land uses, the tax rate ranges from 1% to 5.5% english.tpctax.gov.taipei/Ne…
