It’s almost comedic how badly the BART presents itself to arriving passengers at SFO – dirty, no clear instructions, dysfunctional ticket machines, etc… This city doesn’t invest in its public transportation infrastructure. Anyway it’s still the best way to get to downtown SF. 🚇

Also how completely unclear it is how to get from the International terminal to the BART station. Are there any signs? Myself and @zcorpan ended up giving up and getting a taxi not finding any!

I guess I'm familiar enough with the airport to not need signs, so I don't notice if there are/aren't any. In any case, BART is attached to the *departures* level of the international terminal, so from arrivals, you need to turn right from the customs exit & go up the escalator.

Also cc @RebeccaForBART (mainly for @torgo's original message in this thread; I doubt BART has power over the signage inside SFO).

Though we don't have power to change the signage on our own, we definitely can work with SFO - they've been a great partner. Have specific suggestions for where signage is needed? What is should look like?

I'll try and give some actionable feedback in a few weeks when I next arrive at SFO. :)
But from memory/Streetview: goo.gl/maps/Xh1SpTLV7H9mqRtA… is what you first see after customs, but then turning right you just reach the end of the corridor before you see any obvious signage.

Thanks, do let me know, and take photos if you can. I don't fly out of SFO very often and I'm frequently turned around there, but not just for finding BART, for finding just about anything.

It's also possible it's obvious if you know you're looking for an escalator... but not if you don't.
