It is extending css grid so I guess depends on whether you look at the sub-feature or the feature as a whole... In any case I agree that "N/A" is not quite a valid response... Maybe worth replying to the thread?

Replied but will probably be stuck in moderation for a while. :D I think it's a pretty separate feature. You could argue almost that any addition to CSS is a "sub-feature" in one way or another. It's nice that its a new value which can be detected via support (display: subgrid)
