On the flight here, someone commented that the 737-800 we were on was “the smallest plane [they’d] ever been on.” Someone here just commented that today’s 737 is “not a very big plane.” What are airlines flying around these days?!?

Exactly! I wrote it off as a fluke the first time (although the kid seemed maybe college aged), but twice in a trip and I’m wondering if someone is flying 767s domestically or something.

Many airlines use their internationally configured aircraft for domestic flying at some times of day. But it's hard to get only those if a significant part of your flying is domestic. That said, accurate memory might only cover the past year or so.
