This is adding fuel to my long-simmering idea to do a podcast where I go through the list of HTML elements alphabetically, one element per episode, taking 15-20 minutes to describe it and its history. (<base> dates at least to an IIIR Note in June 1993: w3.org/MarkUp/draft-ietf-iii….)
I just learned about the <base> element, I didn't know about it so I thought I'd share: You can do like: <head> <base target="_blank"> </head> And use base to set properties for all links in the document. Here, every link will open in a new window: codepen.io/sdras/full/KLzyqr

Plus, by going alphabetical, it’ll mix up current tags with old tags. Feels like it adds more texture to me. But who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind.

Don't skip <basefont>. In some browsers it was a container and </basefont> reverted its effects... :-/

Definitely will not skip, if I do this. If nothing else, I’ve learned that <P> was not originally a container, which I had not remembered (or never knew).
