California Gov. @GavinNewsom has huge pie-in-the-sky housing goals, including the building of 3.5m new homes by 2025. But today in Long Beach he was the least pollyannaish about the state’s affordability problems that I’ve heard from him.

That risks having the problem Obama had with the stimulus -- what if it happens, but prices are still rising? People would take that as evidence that building more housing doesn't help. He needs to ask for the number that will actually address the problem. (Hope it's right!)
