More generally, food prices here are similar to the Bay Area. Housing is on average a bit more expensive than most of the US. I do not understand how household budgets work here at all
Yikes... is there a distinction between cheaper things grown in the island and expensive ones that need to be imported? (Is the island a net importer of food?)
Then again, housing cost sounds like an even bigger issue...
