The @CSSWG Asia-friendly telcon is 1st Wed every month 7pm US/Eastern, which is usually but not always the 1st Thu for me in Australia/Melbourne. Despite creating my event in US/Eastern, @googlecalendar only allows me to repeat "Monthly on the first Thursday". #timezonesarehard

If you created the event in US/Eastern (the right thing to do), surely you should create it as "Monthly on the first *Wednesday*"?

That is what I wanted to do, but the Google Calendar option for creating a monthly recurring event just showed "Monthly on the first Thursday", as if it first translated to my timezone then thought about which recurrence options to give me.

If all else fails... maybe try changing the timezone setting in Google Calendar, making the event, and changing it back?
