Aeronautical technical query: Could the Honda HA-420 fly from San Francisco to Tokyo, and if refuelling is required, where? (Please don't guess. I need to hear from someone who knows.) World's cutest private jet.

Dramatic answer is, if taking the SFO to Hawaii route, with ferry tank, you would depart OAK, not SFO allowing for over gross HA-420 to accelerate in ground effect, potentially passing under both Bay Bridge and Golden Gate, and arriving in ITO (Hilo) on fumes from initial burn.

So instead of the “wet footprint” model, you could possibly make the journey with a more great-circle route that’s shorter AND drier. Fly to Vancouver, Anchorage, Bethel, Petropavlovsk, and Tokyo. Just a thumbnail, but works if weather is ok.

If we were serious, we would fine tune this, as I’m not really basing it on actual range, just a rough thumbnail.

The crux issue here is weather. After ANC, Bethel and Petro don’t have good nearby alternates. If their weather suddenly goes bad (and those places, it does), the Honda may not have the range to get anywhere else.

Even Bethel>Petro is really stretching the range too.
