Yeah, March 6 was my last social or work interaction with people outside my household... and also my last airplane flight. Haven't done that since I got home that day.

Oh, actually, it's just one parcel. 360 University doesn't count since there's an alley (and city parking lot) at the back of the parcel that could connect to underground parking.

And even more context: (a) they're probably going to add a further 9 month extension of the 1 year moratorium mentioned in the above thread in Monday's council meeting, and (b) the above thread was subtly wrong; there are non-office non-residential uses still allowed

I think this is why we need the state to step in with laws like SB50 and limit the power of city governments to do this sort of thing.

Context: I just found two parcels listed in Palo Alto's housing inventory (469 University and 360 University) where Palo Alto did this when it added PAMC 18.18.060(m) as part of the 2018 Housing Work Plan (cityofpaloalto.org/civicax/f…).

Random California housing law question: if a city lists a parcel as a housing inventory site in the housing element of its comprehensive plan, are there consequences if it changes the zoning for those parcels so it's no longer possible to build the listed amount of housing?

I tried to politely reply to his statement that African Americans would not have faced discrimination in Palo Alto, but I think he just deleted my comment that was (retyping it from memory): "Tom DuBois: Have you read amazon.com/Color-Law-Forgott… . (If not, you should read it.)"

Started from purpleair.com/map?opt=1/m/i/… , clicked on three stations of interest, then used the hamburger menu to make it full screen.
Up and to the right isn't always good news. (That's the air quality in Palo Alto.)

The @JoeBiden campaign should not accept rules that would cut off Trump's microphone in a way that the audience can't hear Trump's yelling but Biden can, since that would prevent the audience from understanding what's distracting Biden.
JUST IN: Commission on Presidential Debates says it's now clear that "additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues." Measures to be announced shortly.

The whole area chart may be of interest. (Though this actually inflates the numbers; the *upper* basement level (B-1) counts the "open to * below" items but I don't think those really count as square footage.) Note above-ground floors exactly hit the FAR maximum for the lot.

That screenshot cuts off another key piece. (And if you walk around rich parts of Palo Alto you can spot the new houses by the light wells and the egress ladders for their basements.)

Also, seems like a shame to have torn down what used to be there, this house built in 1925, and sold for $7.05M in 2016. I'm pretty sure I prefer this style of architecture to whatever could get approved by the ARB to replace it today... (photo from Zillow)

Oops, got the upper and lower basements backwards for the bedroom/bathroom counts.

Hints: The Play Room on the lower basement level (34% of that basement level's area) is larger than my 2BR apartment. I think I'm counting 6 bedrooms (3 upstairs, 3 upper basement), 7 full baths (3 upstairs, 3 UB, 1 LB), and 4 half baths (2 ground, 1 UB, 1LB). 15,000 sqft lot.

I cheated. (Easy since I'd walked past that a number of times and all I had to do was figure out if it was Waverley or Bryant Street.) And oh, goodness. I hadn't looked at the plans for that one before. First time I've seen 2 stories of basement in Palo Alto R-1.

So far it's mainly the inland East Bay...

Risky to your health? (Smoke is really not good for us in a bunch of ways.)
