If I found out about the article from a *different* tweet than the one I retweet, I'll generally favorite that one as acknowledgment.

But sometimes I prefer retweeting other sources if somebody else has a better (for whatever my current reason is) 140-character summary.

I think this gives the author appropriate credit and exposure, which is good. (I sometimes spend a bit of time finding the right account.)

One thing I do on @twitter: when retweeting news articles, I prefer to retweet the tweet from the article's source.
