Not surprising. The closest thing I've seen to that is the international departures schedule at Shin-Chitose (on a fixed poster, not dynamic!). Plus the set of languages on the signs in the airport... (Photos from 2015-10-31.)

Not only am I with you on preferring direction... but I wish every city built their subway exits like Sapporo and had a compass on the ground at the top of the stairs. (I think I've seen this in some other cities in East Asia, but I think it was most reliable in Sapporo.)

The @nytimes could have used a better phrase in this photo caption than "a skyscraper in Taipei" to describe one of the most recognizable skyscrapers in the world.
