I just landed in Las Vegas. I'll be here through Sunday for Black Hat and DEF CON. If you'll be here too and you have something interesting to share, let me know. Contact info in bio.

This was a few people with financial incentives. Imagine how damaging this could be if you involved a foreign intelligence service that provides training and capabilities and resources; really underscores the (continued) need for insider threat & uniquely focused security teams

Today, we're launching a major project that I've been working on for the past five months. It's a page that tracks every state and county using paperless voting machines, including whether they plan to upgrade and where they are in that process. politico.com/interactives/20…

I’m reminded of @marissamayer being troubled by a job applicant getting a ‘C’ in macroeconomics: “Good students are good at all things.” If ever there was an article to refute Marissa’s belief, this one is it.

Both of the front power locks in my wife's car have gone out, and Toyota charges $800 for the parts to repair them. I can get them online for less than $60. This is why "right to repair" laws are so important: manufacturers have no incentive to be reasonable in what they charge.

That’s terrible. For next time, look at staying at Vdara; the entire property is non-smoking and they do not have a casino.

ProTip: Securities regulation also has whistleblower provisions with payouts. If you know of a flaw in a public company's systems/products that may materially impact shareprice when it's revealed, consult a securities attorney.
“This allows for a new type of bug bounty for security researchers if vendors drag their feet, continue selling their products to governments without notifying of the risk they know about and not fixing their flaws,” Wysopal said. apnews.com/9fee503389a94f2eb…

...One (disturbing) answer to that last question: Speed ISN'T intrinsically important on most tasks; it's just a handy criterion for sorting people. The real goal isn't to assess what counts but to find a way of making sure everyone isn't successful: is.gd/E89KAS
