So @stripe just emailed us announcing that they were not going to refund dispute fees even if you won the case 🤯 Our SaaS is priced at $9/m, so it means that for every abusive chargeback, we could lose twice the money we've made. Wtf?!

You will absorb that cost across all of your successful sales. Eg 2 chargebacks = €40 / 1000 sales at €9 = €9000, comes to 0.44%. Or you can get Stripe Chargeback Protection for 0.4% of all successful transactions, which is $36 in the above scenario. stripe.com/radar/chargeback-…

Replying to @bilcorry @stripe
We already do that, and "absorbing the cost" is definitely the route we're taking, but the decision sends a pretty awful message to indie devs which Stripe doesn't seem to care as much as they used to...

My guess is they want to push you to their chargeback protection product, and with enough subscribers, it acts as an insurance where some customers are covering the chargeback losses of other customers.
Other options: You can get “chargeback indemnification” from other providers (search for that term). And you can abstract your payment gateway so that switching payment providers is very easy (@recurly is one solution, but there are others).
