I use Kdenlive for video editing. My needs are simple though, so can’t speak to what it lacks vs commercial software.
And I use Handbrake to convert video formats.
True. I just splice videos and add music, it does it well enough for the few times a year I need it.
Oh, I use VLC for playing videos (it supports music too).
