My chronic optimism is, on whole, a benefit to me as a manager, but it does make hiring... interesting. I see exciting potential in nearly every candidate. I rely on my co-interviewers to keep me focused on what's needed in the role. I really hate turning talented people down. 🥺

I think many people try to hire to most experienced person they can find, but they’re then hiring the person with the least amount to learn, which can make a job boring. I try to hire people into roles with some learning runway left.
