I've been looking up the carrier for malicious texts I receive. All 3 I've checked in the last few days have been @verizonwireless I assume this is account takeover & using the web to text capability? Anyone have data on malicious texts by carrier?

How do you know the number wasn’t spoofed? I always assumed they were using spoofed numbers, which is why I never bothered blocking them.

It could be spoofed. But the numbers have all been different and unrelated area codes. So not the “neighbor / same area code” you see. Also all 3 from the same carrier seems oddly coincidental for spoofing.

Makes sense. I wish SMS had traceable delivery, would be easier to stop bad actors. Instead, I get scam/spam calls and SMS daily.

I wish the carriers mimicked the browser vendors and focused on solving inherent ecosystem weaknesses. Instead, the @FTC is spending tax payer dollars to whack-a-mole a problem created by the carriers. If no one answers their phone anymore due to spam, do we need phone service?
