Question for #HRtwitter: onboarding a new hire that is remote from another state. When she completes her tax documents, she completes the tax document for her state, correct? Not for the state of her employer? State tax is her state of residency, yes?

This is what is making remote work so complicated to sort out, the taxes.

Yes exactly, that's what I was thinking was the correlation. It's also the benefits coverage. But I've been more segmented away from payroll for a bit, so I wanted to poll a few channels. Thanks again!

Additionally, her employer will need to be registered in the state she resides in so that they can correctly remit her payroll taxes to her state.
