If a company’s hiring process can only find employees of which only (say) 20% can β€œexceed expectations”, why don’t companies obsessively improve their hiring process? Mean Time to Hire = Efficiency % High Performers = Effectiveness Focus on #effectiveness! #Leadership

Or do what Netflix does and expect top performers and if they’re not, let them go and find a top performing replacement.

Yes, I’m a fan of the β€œkeeper test”. You can’t have excellence if you continue to tolerate mediocrity. But, I’d rather focus my energies at the top of the funnel to reduce the impact of poor/toxic performers wreaking havoc on the organization’s strategy, roadmap and team morale.
