There is a well-established American myth that bilingualism delays childhood speech development. It's not true, and it hurts immigrant communities. The children of immigrants end up disconnected from their parents' languages as a result. Yet I still hear people say this!

In Luxembourg, the schools integrate Luxembourgish, German, and French, and at least one other language (English is popular). Their multilingualism is a source of pride and a way to open the world to their citizens. luxembourg.public.lu/en/soci…
