The Minneapolis school board just voted to terminate the school district's contract with the city's police department, and to end the use of police officers as "school resource officers." The vote was unanimous. theguardian.com/us-news/2020…

From the experience of the teachers I talk to they escalate situations and cause harm to the students. Why do you think they protect them?

The problem is the opposite. SROs do police work when most school situations don’t require it. By criminalizing what would otherwise be “bad behavior” these kids are fed into the prison pipeline and are now more likely to become criminals. scholarship.law.ufl.edu/cgi/…
