#StarTrek is supposed to "boldly go where no one has gone before", which is why they're bringing back fan-favorite characters from 20 years ago.

I do love Picard. The pilot is ok, not great, but also not ST:TNG S1E1 bad.

If we have to rehash old characters, bring back Sisko.
