I've recently started saying I'm a "con-artist" compared to a "social engineer." Everyone understands what a con-artist is/does. It's not "dumbing it down" but bringing more awareness to my job in a way most people really understand.

I fondly recall watching Rockford Files reruns as a kid. Not all "con-artists" are crooks, some use their skills for good.
