Update: I pressed one to talk to scammer today. They transferred me to what sounded like an Indian call center and told me they had enough evidence to take me to “the head of the FBI”. But that my friends in Texas had probably perpetrated “theft of identity” against me. 😂
Best new scam robocall. Quote: “This call is from the Department of Social Security Administration. The reason you have received this phone call from our department is to inform you that we just suspend(sic) your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity.”

Years ago, an Indian call center called my desk phone at PayPal, their pretense was “Windows support.” Chatted with them for a half-hour while I pretended to enable remote desktop sharing.

Genius. Each future call I get (that I’m willing to answer and burn time for my amusement), I’ll be trying to go further and further down the call script.

You might ask them how successful they are and how much they make each week. I’m just curious, but if the number is large enough, I’m going to wonder if maybe we’re on the wrong side of this.
