Apologists and perpetrators of live-streamed child sexual abuse - mostly family members - claim it is not morally wrong or a crime if the child “belongs to them” & if the sexual acts are “virtual.” @AntonioTagle “Their harms are not virtual - they are real!” #InterFaithAlliance
Cardinal ⁦@AntonioTagle⁩ tells hard truths about CSE in the Philippines. 24% of kids experience inter-familial sexual exploitation or by known intermediaries who stream & sell their abuse to pay per view predators overseas-a truly trans-national crime. #InterfaithAlliance

Wow, at 24%, is it culturally embedded? I’m reminded of how the US was treating “bacha bazi” as a cultural issue in Afghanistan. nytimes.com/2015/09/21/world…

That is one of the lower estimates- the exploitation & abuse of children for live-streaming sexual acts remotely for economic gain is coerced & committed by “intermediaries” or those close to or known to these poor souls. Just tragic!

The numbers are astounding, how is this not an international crises? A significant portion of a population corrupted into exploiting their children, and a whole generation of children that will bear the costs as victims and eventual perpetuators.

It’ll become even more dire as the other 50% of the world comes online & mega-cities without addresses & nameless children continue to be abused. At the #InterFaithAlliance there is consensus that we all come together 2 address these issues. Now, before the enormity overwhelms us
