Years ago I my told boss some software was ready to go. I said “they install it by copying a file, then running a script, then ..” and he said “No, they click the install button, next, next, then the done. Users don’t want to copy files and run scripts.” Very valuable lesson.

I mention this because we had some trouble on the @Owasp_DevSlop show this Sunday, installing some open-source software. If we want to have people use the amazing tools we built, they need to be very easy to use, and that includes installation.

There is little point to working so hard to create an amazing tool, that then is not used very often because it's not documented properly or the install is too difficult. I say this to remind @Owasp_DevSlop that we need to make sure we keep this in mind. Thoughts?

An installer that’s signed is ideal. Or install via drive-by malware, either works.
