I've invited countless women to speak at OWASP, and almost all of them told me they did not feel qualified, did not have a topic, or where too shy. I disagree with the article, it seems their reasons only applies to well-known/experienced speakers. @OWASP_Ottawa @cyber_ladies

I feel like if we want to have more women in stage I don't think the answer is to pressure the few women who already speak to speak more. I feel the answer is having new women speak. Perhaps we need more people to mentor new or hopeful speakers? 😀

Another option is to pair someone experienced with a novice, and have them jointly create a talk, go through the RFP together, and then present together. It’s less intimidating for the novice when they have an experienced partner through the whole process.

Also - so many options for beginning speakers - better places to start like panels, small groups, workshops.
