I hated homework too, then I read up on it as an adult and found that despite 40+ years of research, there’s never been a study that showed an academic benefit for homework given to elementary school children. There are some that show detrimental effects. amp.timeinc.net/time/4740297…

You should explain that to my wife, who is a teacher and who loved homework when she was in elementary school. And middle school. And high school. And college. And, presumably, loves assigning it. :)

Your wife is in good company, I went to a parent mtg at the Palo Alto School District and they wanted to know how much homework kids should be getting. Most parents said “more,” I was the odd one out saying “none!” My “none” response wasn’t captured bc district assumed hw>0.
