Since it’s possible to have multiple conversations at once on your phone, perhaps in-person is just one more? I wonder if the perception of “distraction” will shift over time as people adapt to multi-tasking conversations across all mediums.

While multi-tasking in this day and age is a necessity, I’m sure there are lost efficiencies & definitely lessened synergies in trying to do so many things simultaneously. I think many of us are guilty of “distracted parenting” from time 2 time & need 2B conscious 2 self-correct!

I agree that focused interaction is ideal, however, I’ve seen my own children have different norms and expectations with their friends, which makes me think they’ll parent differently than my generation, which differs from my parents generation.
