How AI is trained makes all the difference. I recall the story of how AI was trained to detect skin cancer, but what they really created was a ruler detector, because rulers appear in photos of skin cancer when doctors think it’s malignant. thedailybeast.com/why-doctor…

Glad to see they abandoned it, not happy my resume was penalized due to my minor in Women’s Studies.

Mine arrived 19 hours ago, doubt yours is in transit. Best to reach out now. Luckily you have until November 8 to vote, so there is time to sort it out.

Having a tool and using it properly are two different things. I would think insurance companies would gravitate towards managed security services for smaller companies, and external attestation for larger companies that have a SOC (and to your point, understanding their tooling).
Ballot was sent via email to all members of OWASP. You’ll need to reach out to the Foundation staff if you didn’t receive yours.

I hated homework too, then I read up on it as an adult and found that despite 40+ years of research, there’s never been a study that showed an academic benefit for homework given to elementary school children. There are some that show detrimental effects. amp.timeinc.net/time/4740297…

I was living in Europe at the time and there was criticism how the police caught him. I can’t find a news account that goes into it, but did find this. And I bring it up only to illustrate the challenges in this space. npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/…

When discussing police tech and privacy, I’m always reminded of how German police caught the serial autobahn shooter (700+ shootings over 5+ years); they used license plate scanners and stored the data, which was controversial in Germany for privacy reasons (and illegal?).

Farts are the go-to dad joke.
Been there, I once had an engineer sit behind me at a lecture at my workplace who proceeded to eat his lunch wrapped in cellophane and tried to compress the cellophane back into the packaging for a solid 2 minutes of crinkling hell, then fell asleep and snored for 45 minutes.
Wish it wasn’t region locked!
