I always talk about family time when interviewing for a new role, because I will need it for when kids are sick, school activities, etc, and I’m not missing their science fair or winter concert because work can’t live without me for a couple of hours.
It was the first time soldering for my 13-year-old son and was his favorite activity this year (his badge worked as well).

One solution proposed by @jeremiahg is to have vendors provide warranties for their products, giving them the financial incentive to ensure their products are secure.
