So, I have @dvdnetflix for content not available elsewhere, and I’ve had “Better Off Dead” at the top of my queue for the better part of a year. It costs $7.84 at Walmart, I think Netflix can afford to buy a few more copies.

I agree that focused interaction is ideal, however, I’ve seen my own children have different norms and expectations with their friends, which makes me think they’ll parent differently than my generation, which differs from my parents generation.

Guess that means they’re violating privacy laws and would have to stop.

My family in Ottawa is safe too, but there’s some serious damage in their neighborhood.

Since it’s possible to have multiple conversations at once on your phone, perhaps in-person is just one more? I wonder if the perception of “distraction” will shift over time as people adapt to multi-tasking conversations across all mediums.

Anyone who thinks sexual crimes are usually reported to law enforcement have spent zero effort researching the topic. It’s well known that sexual crimes, including rape, are under-reported to a significant degree for a variety of reasons.

Years ago, I was in a college psych sexuality class and the woman next to me became upset and left. I followed her out and asked to help, she told me she was raped by her BF while her parents were home, and never told anyone. Telling me gave her the strength to tell her parents.

Upside, there’s now a job market for Fitbit walkers.

Bummed you’re leaving Twitter. As a parting laugh, I emailed myself the zip and Gmail said it might contain a virus.
Apparently lawmakers forget that the ones most exploited by backdoors are they themselves by foreign adversaries. I wouldn’t be surprised if foreign money was finding its way to push this forward. History lesson: theregister.co.uk/2007/07/11…
Want to break into cybersecurity? Justin Jones has a YouTube channel that features recruiters/hiring managers with at least one open junior cybersecurity role. Very cool idea! youtube.com/channel/UCJj8b7H…
You can post selfies here if you want, you don’t have to move to Insta!

I suppose one could form a co-op that makes the purchases on behalf of its members, and people could pickup their items from a central location. I wonder though if those items are used in a crime, would it create criminal and civil liability for the co-op?

Curious how trackability of payment data can be eliminated via online purchases? OFAC and other US regulations require the collection and processing of PII, seems the solution would be via lawmakers, not merchant and payment companies.

At one of my employers, we didn't allow the FB like button because it required trusting FB (third-party) JavaScript. But for sites that trust FB not to go rogue, you'd think they would make the Like button click-to-enable so it only impacts users that want to interact with FB.
