My takeaway: Pascal is much better than Python.
This table says it all. One of the reasons we're going big on Rust it because it delivers incredible economies, without trading off safety. On Cloud, sustainability is a big motivator, and on devices battery lifetime is the biggest differentiator.

I found this buried in my wish list. It's from a dark time in my life when getting a teen out of bed in the morning was a daily nightmare.

Pure comedy gold.
Yesterday, $3B+ of bitcoin was recovered from a hack from a YC founder and a rapper. And the memes were too good for you not to see em all Today, we share the best we found in a thread

Well, @fedex finally showed up with my package 3 days later, but apparently my not opening the door within 20 seconds meant I wasn't home. What a waste of time and gas; if they gave me more info than "sometime before end of day", I could be on the lookout for them.
So @FedEx called me yesterday to say I needed to be home today to sign for a package, then after I waited at home all day, did not show up, nor have they sent me any follow up communication. I’m pretty sure whoever designed this notification system is chronically single.

I received a call from the Netherlands saying that my "Nike shoes purchase" is all set to go and to allow the $199 purchase to go through I should hang up, or to dispute the purchase, remain on the line. I shouted "YOLO" into the phone and hung up.

I was just invited to a "terrarium indoor plant workshop" by @Cloudflare. I'm not sure if it's phishing, or the most unusual sales tactic ever, but either way, you know I'm signing up!

Crazy thing, this is a brand new MacBook, with a brand new Apple ID, and the very first thing I did was try to install this free app. It's not like I did anything complicated or was bringing a decade of Apple setup baggage with me. How QA missed this is a head scratcher 🤔

Got a new MacBook, went to install a free app in the App Store. Asked to sign in, then setup iTunes account, then sign in again, then setup iTunes account, <repeat> I ended up using Music do to the iTunes store setup, since the App Store is apparently not on Apple's QA list🙄

Fun for kids, @HomeDepot has a variety of woodshop projects.
For long-term success, preschool must be play-based, NOT academic. Sure, academic kids jump ahead of their play-based peers in the short term, but by fourth grade, those gains disappear, never to return. psychologytoday.com/us/blog/…
"If this study doesn’t put the nail in the coffin of academic training to little children, it’s hard to imagine what will." Peter Gray on the first-ever controlled study of public, academically-oriented U.S. pre-K, where THE CONTROL GROUP DID BEST. psychologytoday.com/us/blog/…

When I tell parents that their kids do NOT need a high school diploma to get a college degree, I’m typically met with skepticism. Exhibit A: atlantablackstar.com/2022/01…

Curious how the court decides which minors in Florida can get an abortion without their parent's permission? This dissent highlights that it isn't enough to be a month away from age 18, raising your first child, disowned by your parents, and working full-time.

This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine.

I’m a MLS student which means I get all of the law school announcements. Something I never realized is that EVERYTHING is a competitive contest in law school. Admissions, internship, journal editor, pro bono clinic, clerkship, the school you attend, the employer after, etc.
