The #indieweb is all about hosting things yourself, but actually I find doing so to be enormously stressful. Sysadmin-ing is a profession.

The #indieweb is all about owning your identity and being in control. You don't have to self-host to do that!

Hm, okay good point. But hosting on other people's sites is a loss of control isn't it?

As long as you have the ability to pick up your content and move it elsewhere and keep the same URLs you're in control

The flip side is URL permanence: my content on Figshare, Flickr, etc. is *probably* going to outlast my personally-hosted content.
