A question for the Geotwitterati: how is my phone tracking my geolocation on this flight?

airplane mode doesn't turn off gps, that changed at iOS 8.3. It used to.

I've tried and failed many times to get a GPS fix since then. Figured the metal fuselage blocked signals. But ok!

I regularly track GPS on flights. Most of the time only get a signal at a window seat: aaronparecki.com/flights
