As someone who doesn't cook with meat or eggs, this whole thread is incredibly confusing. It reads like everyone is in on a gag that is going completely over my head.
I knew her partner was Arab & what the smell was before I reached the end of the question. (Also I’ve maintained for YEARS that westerners simply cannot smell zankha even when it’s dizzying)

I *do* cook with meat and eggs, and this zankha thing is a mystery to me too. I'm reminded of umami, a taste that Asians knew about long before Westerners decided it was real. Care to comment, @LibyaLiberty?
