its very not p2p. like, anything that is "aaS" cannot be p2p because p2p is inherently about everyone in the network having equivalent roles, and to @SarahJamieLewis's point about decentralization, about power being anti-concentrated

and indieweb has always been hyper concentrated. its kind of unfortunate that it went the route it did, tbh. they couldve done something really interesting but instead its just... twitter plus inter-server distribution :\

you're talking about Mastodon/fediverse specifically, right? because indieweb encompasses a lot more than just that model
1
i am, yes, because its the only relevant aspect of indieweb in the context of the thread that i wrote, as far as i can tell
1
sure i mean everything i said above also applies to direct site-to-site engagement too. i wrote a thread about p2p and cryptography, and somehow this is turning into a debate about indieweb because of some random asshole
1
i mean doesn't that kind of exactly demonstrate your earlier point about the twitter/mastodon interaction model 😂
1
maybe I misinterpreted the specific problems with the fediverse that you're referring to then. I'm trying to find a good reference, this one talks about some of the problems, which Mastodon has for the same reasons: natdudley.com/blog/twitter-u…

i literally didnt list specific problems of the fediverse and never claimed to i have in the past but not in this thread

i can dig through my current twitter history and find some threads but, i'll write something up for you later that's more concentrated and all encompassing of my issues with federation non-federated indieverse stuff has major advantages over federated stuff for some of them
1
i also dont find non-federated indieweb to be satisfactory for a whole variety of reasons too
