Thank you @British_Airways for having staff in the lounge who can actually get real answers to questions about why flights are delayed. My next flight is delayed because they can't get people thru checkin fast enough, which at least means this probably won't get cancelled.

Yes! The LHR-DFW flight was super delayed and I missed the DFW-PDX flight, so I had to stay overnight in Dallas and take another flight in the morning, but I eventually made it! It was great seeing you in Vienna even if my conference experience was cut short!

That's insane... Not common, though, is it? this is the first time I have ever heard this reason for a flight to be delayed. normally it's a mechanical problem in my personal experience.

It's a huge flight, LHR-DFW, so presumably they lose more money if they have to reroute people who miss it vs the delays
