Fun YouTube tip: It’s exciting to promote a direct channel link, but it’s missing out on easy algo juices. Getting people to subscribe via a specific video helps signal to YT that the video is driving subs and helps you grow. Channel page gives you nothing.

Plus those subs you gained in anticipation of the new video might miss it on the homepage or not click it in the first place. Being deliberate about how you promote your work can have big impacts on how you impact your growth.

Obviously if they don’t watch much of the video or bounce off YT etc then it’s still not great. And external views aren’t as worthwhile as from-YouTube views. BUT if you’re already optimizing for watch sessions and stickiness, it’s free optimization by just choosing your links.

Same thing if you’re on a podcast or guesting for someone and asked what you want to promote. Don’t give some generic pitch for your channel on the whole, pitch a specific piece of content you think is relevant to the current audience/scenario and are proud of. More movement.
