A company really wants to buy my forums and asked me to name my price when I told them I wasn't looking to sell. All it does is give me the feeling that I should be doing a better job of pursuing display advertising if it's that valuable to other people 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've really struggled with how to do display advertising on the forums that doesn't KILL usability. We had a disastrous 28 hour trial with a programmatic ad network where I had to pull the plug because it was breaking everything.

We don't run on wordpress or BBforums, which is what all the programmatic networks are used to. Additionally, jumpy ads are a no-go. I'd rather just sell some high $ static ads to key partners, but when am I gonna find the time?

I'd love to be able to run that 💕 Maybe I should hire someone and let them take a massive commission (like 50%), because I literally do not have the time. But we have such an engaged audience with high pageviews and in a good target demo.

We’re talking about having a way for folks to self host our ads. Something closer to a sponsorship model, with our ad client and our backend, but their sales/ads. If that’s interesting, we can set you up with a beta test account. Thanking of it like sponsorship is probably best.
