If your company is big enough to roll out a mandatory VPN on personal iOS devices, they are big enough to buy you a work phone
IT just rolled out a mandatory VPN across all iOS devices and I鈥檓 debating what to do. The security risks are real, but intercepting all network traffic on my phone/tablet is crossing a new privacy line. If I unenroll it my productivity will tank with no email access. 馃馃

Cisco knows a thing or two about security and did not require VPNs to access email or company messaging on mobile devices. Presumably those go over TLS anyway. They did require strong passcodes and a device profile that allowed them to remote wipe lost devices.

If I鈥檓 choosing to put work data on a personal device, I鈥檓 OK with work having the ability to wipe that data. Until mobile OSes have fine-grained wipes, a nuclear hammer it is. I just made sure I kept everything always backed up so I could restore my personal stuff.
