This is not a criticism really. Or at least I don't think it is. But with all the remote video conferences from the last year, you can really tell the difference between who is reading from a script and who is not.

Actually, maybe it is a criticism. The readers take...more effort to listen to, some how? That doesn't make any sense to me but I guess I can see why people like @ycombinator explicitly warn against it when pitching.

If I’m doing a talk live, I will 100% not read from a script. However, if I’m publishing a prerecorded video, I’ll read from a script and heavily edit it down. I also find that when I am writing a script that I will be reading on camera, I write in a *completely* different style.
