Hey @robertoblake have you done a video on when and when not to use the “includes paid promotion” checkbox in youtube? I feel that it’s used incorrectly by a lot of creators, but I could be wrong.

The YouTube video seems to indicate that even if the company didn’t pay but provided the product for free, you’re supposed to check the box.

my understanding of the FTC's rules is that you need to clearly disclose when you get something of value, whether cash or a product. They don't specify what form that disclosure should take, so either verbal at the beginning of the segment or checking that box is fine.

Verbal is best IMO because you can explain. With the checkbox, I feel like “ok, what’s your opinion, and what were you paid to say?”

I agree, and that's why I rarely check the box. I prefer to say very clearly what the relationship is at the beginning of the video. I checked the box for my 4 hour desk build stream cause I figured people would be dropping in and out and might not hear my initial disclosure

Oh cool, I missed that. What desk?

My Flexispot standing desk! Now my next question is if I ever mention the desk in another livestream so I have to disclose it again? 🤔

Nice! And I think that depends on your agreement with them but if you’re praising it then I’d say yes, that’s a good idea to say.
