I would have been in Prague this week, instead I am staring at my computer screens giving a presentation from my desk. Some day we'll be able to travel again. Sigh.

Two questions: what’s the gimbal-looking thing sitting on top of the left monitor? That camera seems rather high up. Do you tend to look at the camera or the screen when presenting?

It's an OBSBOT camera, I've been trying it out, it follows your face around the room. The DSLR is actually basically at eye level when I'm sitting down. I do decently well at looking into the camera while presenting except when I'm doing live coding.

Looks interesting. My Cisco telepresence gear does that. But the Cisco stuff was a wee bit more than $200 and a lot harder to set up.

yeah this is like a baby version of that, but it's entirely plug and play, no drivers even

Cisco moved away from rotating cameras. People found them too distracting and the movement was too slow. What they do now is arrays of fixed 5k lenses and control the pan and zoom in software.
