Imagine this spot with any mirrorless camera and how exciting it would still be - The marketing & community Apple creates with their cameras undoubtedly inspires people to not feel held back by gear.
Traditional camera companies missed this boat completely.

Apple actually has the budget to pull this kind of thing off.
Traditional camera sales have been so bad companies have two loaners for an entire country let alone hundreds of devices to just have fun with.

Yeah it's weird. SONY could have made that Apple ad for the Z-V1 and it would have made as much sense.

also the sentiment of "you can make great things with anything" is an angle no camera company has dared to stand for - likely out of fear of killing their incremental update cycles.
so they lean on paper specs to try and keep us buying shit.

i like what panasonic did with the BGH1 - but it's still a bit too "nerdy" and niche - and it's still too echo chamber communication.

Well also no one is going to buy a $2000 box camera besides camera/production nerds.
Millions buy the iPhone.

i just mean the sentiment - there's no direct comparison from a camera company trying to make a camera for the masses.
that's weird to me. if sales are down why not go broad instead of after industry spec hunters?

No I agree, and I think they have tried (g100, zv1, m50) I just don’t think the market exists anymore.

yeah - the biggest mistake any of these companies have made so far is assuming everyone wants to vlog.
i haven't seen apple lean into vlogging... ever?

ehh "20XX is the last big year for cameras" is like "20XX will finally be the year of the linux desktop"
