The number of virtual happy hours and social events at work I've been invited to has skyrocketed. I've been self-employed or work-from-home for the vast majority of my career. Is this how much work-social time is normal *at* the office that people are now lacking?

Somewhere between “yes” and “people are overcompensating.” If you count, “anyone want to walk over to that taco stand for lunch today” then there’s a lot of social interactions.
