Weird, first time I’m having problems with my GH5. Trying to use the app the camera now crashes every time I hit record. Is it a coincidence it happens to be in 24p?

No, its an off brand battery and I think that might be the problem. My OEM battery is dead right now though so I can't check.

I was underpowering my GH5S with a USB dummy battery and it would shut off when I hit record. I used a bigger power supply and that fixed it.

Yeah, I asked because I was doing a timelapse with a dummy battery on my GH5 once and it shut off randomly. OEM battery solved the issue.

I'm charging the OEM battery now, but I've never had this problem before. Its really weird and happened with two separate batteries.

If they're not brand new third party batteries, it could be they are lower quality and just died out faster than OEM batteries do. That would cause them to be unable to deliver power at the rate it expects, and then it browns out when it tries to record.
