Read through it but didn't follow all the links. Didn't realized rtl_433 was the driver (different git repo though?).

The names of these things are terrible. I'm using the RTL-SDR dongle, it's linked down from the "controller" section.

:) agreed.
Yah, I was looking at weewx because it'll run on a mac and I have an old MacMini sitting around that I was thinking about using: weewx.com/docs/macos.htm

weewx looks neat. That screenshot is pretty nice. That's one aspect I need to keep working on with my setup is putting displays in more places.

ha! Apparently that AcuRite 06002M you mentioned can be used inside a freezer to monitor freezer temperature (better range than the one they sell specifically for that use). github.com/trlafleur/Acurite…

I wanted to get a setup using these: digistump.com/products/145
and sensors like these: adafruit.com/product/385
going, but DigiStump had to effectively shut down because their 3d printer project turned into a nightmare. Unfortunate because at $11 could be a great little node.

Oh you'll get a kick out of this then: esphome.io
I've made a few sensors with that platform. It's so much easier than DigiStump/Arduino stuff! And you can find esp8266 boards for under $10 too!
